As Muslims in Nigeria concluded their Eid-El-Kabir celebration on Wednesday, the leader of the Northern and Muslim Community in Imo State, Alhaji Auwal Baba Suleiman, has warned Nigerians not to allow either religious or ethnic differences to tear the country apart.
The Sarkin Hausawa told newsmen in Owerri on Wednesday that the Islamic religion, by the way Allah created it, is not meant to bring about problems to people adding that everyone has the right to any religion in the country.
“It is not the making of anybody to belong to any religious group, rather it’s by the design of Allah”, Suleiman reiterated.
He called on the Muslims and Northern communities in the state to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and respect among one another to ensure peaceful co-existence, especially within the environment they find themselves in, urging them to always work together and cooperate with the members of their host communities in the state.
On security challenges, Suleiman advised Nigerians to always give necessary encouragement to the security personnel to enable them to discharge their constitutional duties diligently.
While stressing the need for both the people and the security personnel to work together to ensure maintenance of law and order, the Sarikin Hausawa emphasised that no one would prosper in any environment where there is no security personnel.
On the Eid-el-Kabir, Alhaji Baba Sulaiman said that the whole essence is to use the event to reach out to friends and propagate the message of love.
Adding his voice, the chairman Muslim Council of Imo State, Prince Basheer Uwakwe, blamed past and present leaders for the ceaseless spate of agitation for balkanisation by some ethnic nationalities.
