Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has approved the promotion of 4,466 workers of Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) who are due for promotion in 2018 and 2019.
The Chairman TESCOM, Mr Babatunde Abegunde revealed this while fielding questions from journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
Abegunde explained that the promotion exercise cuts across all the cadres in the commission categorised into teaching and non-teaching officers.
The TESCOM boss described the promotion exercise as part of the restoration efforts of the Kayode Fayemi’s administration, noting that it gives joy to the beneficiaries who described it as a boost to their economic prowess to finance their already encumbered responsibilities.
He said the governor had given value and reward for honest and diligent services with the promotion for workers, stressing that teachers were eager to take advantage of the opportunity to move forward in their career.
The Permanent Secretary in the TESCOM, Mr Olusesan Alabi, while addressing members of staff said: “to whom much is given, much is expected”, stressing that they should reciprocate the government’s kind gesture through hard work, commitment and loyalty.
He said: “the present administration is no longer owing any member of staff any promotion so far which has proved that he is indeed a worker-friendly governor”.
Responding to this development, one of the promoted officers, Mr Ayodeji Atta, lauded the governor for fulfilling his promise, expressing the hope that other agenda on ground would soon be accomplished as well.
