The participants unreservedly expressed their anger and blamed the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government for the recent travails of South Easterners.

The Acting Chairman, Conference of APC State Publicity Secretaries (CAPS), Okelo Madukaife, however, tried to give the Buhari administration a soft landing.

He said: Have you noticed that Muhammadu Buhari who said in his initial broadcast that he has been getting good intelligence report has never mentioned IPOB, MASSOB or any other organisation by name?

“Is it possible that his intelligence covered BRF and others we still do not know, while we the ordinary elites were busy situating it around noisy Kanu?”

Another participants, Mr. Marcel Ngogbehei stated categorically that ‘if President Buhari is removed from power today, all the violence and killings will stop’.

Mr. Ebuka Onyekwelu admitted that the the recent developments is a matter of serious and “huge concern”, adding: “Although, I must admit that there are a lot of fake news out there.”

He meanwhile noted: “Buhari simply doesn’t know how to pretend about his bigotry against the Southeast.”

Mazi Chinedu fired back at Onyekwelu, saying: “You are already exhibiting bias with your comments. The question is who are those killing the police and burning institutions? Are they spirits?”

“If u know, tell us,” retorted Mr. Ngogbehei.

Mr Tango opined: “The same Buhari that said that, any attack on Boko Haram is attack on the North. Unknown gunmen are not ESN. Buhari and Co, are just systematically destroying Nigeria.”

Aziza Uko asked: “Why should an Igbo man spend one drop of his energy defending the Fulanis?”

At that point Okelo Madukaife interjected: “If the essence of this session is to profile the right abuses in the South East and proffer solutions, perhaps we have derailed.”

He quickly added: “If you propose a solution that cannot happen, you have proposed no solution.”

When it was the turn of Ebuka Onyekwelu to comment again he stressed:

“The situation is troubling. Some people stay in Europe and America and are cheering unskilled, unemployed, drug abusing young people to their own death.

“The focus should be to give our youths hope. Restore their dignity. Give opportunities. Restore value.”

Refuting the ability of a restructures Nigeria to save the masses, Onyekwelu asked:

“Will restructuring actually make Southeast leaders to do better? Will it make frustrated young people in the Southeast to become better?

“I fear we are not actually appreciating the extent of this development.”

Other participants include Azu Ikejiani, Rita Anigboogu, Joshua Agusiobo, Nwafor Chinonso, Casmier, Princewill Urum et al.
