The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji and his son, Chinedum over alleged fraud involving N48 billion security votes, N2billion Ecological Fund and state’s Sure-P funds.
The former governor was intercepted at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while trying to board a flight to unknown destination.
His son, Chinedum, on the other hand, reportedly showed up at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
Senator Orji, it was gathered, had been on the Commission’s watch list over multi-billion Naira fraud allegedly perpetrated while he manned the affairs of the state.
The Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, when contacted, said he is yet to issue official statement over the arrests.
