Amman, the capital city of Jordan was Monday thrown into wide jubilation as the batch two pilgrims from Delta State, currently undergoing Pilgrimage in the Holy land arrived Amman, the capital city for the spiritual exercise.

The Jordan Aircraft conveying the 75 Pilgrims to the Jordan City for the 2020 Pilgrimage in the Holy land, our correspondent reports, touched down at the famous Queen Alia Airport Amman at exactly 7:22 am (Nigerian Time) haven left the Port Harcourt International Airport at about 1:46 am, same day.

The current batch of Pilgrims, it would be recalled, were among the 315 of them earlier enlisted and screened for the 2020 Christian Pilgrimage to Jordan, but were denied flight into the Holy land, Thursday, last week following discrepancies that bothered largely on their Covid-19 tests and results.

The first batch of Pilgrims who hadn’t issues with their Covid-19 tests and results, it would be further recalled were Airlifted to the Holy land for the exercise, Thursday last week, leaving the remaining 75 others behind to clarify their Covid-19 status.

However, out of the total number of Pilgrims on the State Government’s sponsorship for the 2020 exercise, those who tested positive to the Covid-19 virus, were completely denied opportunity for the exercise.

At the Dead Sea  SPA Resort, Amman, where the Pilgrims are currently lodging for the ongoing Pilgrimage, our correspondent reports, witnessed some  convivial atmosphere Monday evening as the new entrants of Pilgrims finally joined their colleagues for the ongoing spiritual exercise.

Some of the new pilgrims who spoke with our correspondent at the Dead Sea SPA Resort, Amman, commended the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for what they described as his alloyed commitment towards ensuring that they did not miss out of this year’s pilgrimage in the State.

Narrating their experience in the course of their sojourn to the Holy land for the exercise, the Pilgrims expressed appreciation to God for seeing them through the challenges preceding their arrival into the Holy land.

Speaking specifically on their experience, one of the Pilgrims, Mr. Albert Imuero said, ” My brother, it is a long story. Today, we are finally here for this exercise because, God has approved it that we must be here, otherwise, the challenges were indeed enormous.

“Recall that we were all tested and screened for Covid-19 which is an international requirement before embarking on such journey. But at the point of boarding the Aircraft, we were told that they couldn’t get our Covid 19 results that would enable us proceed.

“At that point, we were asked to go back as we cannot board the Aircraft with others. It was indeed devastating.

“Again, after we did another set of test and we were cleared to travel, on our way to the Airport, along Owerri Road, we were attacked by hoodlums where one of the drivers conveying us to the Airport was stabbed and he was rushed to the hospital.

‘In all, today we are all here to join the rest of the Pilgrims for this exercise. While we thank the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for magnanimity in ensuring that we were not left out from this year’s holy pilgrimage, we are indeed grateful to God for disappointing the plans of the enemy” Imuero said.

Another new entrant, Mrs Peace Nnoruka, apparently overjoyed for the exercise, said that the earlier encountered in the course of the journey were clear indication that God is set to do something great for the State through the exercise.

She said, “We are hopeful that a lot of good things will definitely come out from this Pilgrimage. We are hopeful that a lot of miracles will happen here during this exercise.
