The Bank And Coronavirus
If there is anything that should be of more concern and challenging in the successful fight against Covid-19 today, our banking system is one. Most of the bank staff know nothing about simple hygiene!
I was at a popular bank yesterday and the experience was not funny.
While it was drizzling, the customers were kept outside on a tight que.
As the customers trooped in, they were directed to was their hands using a locally improvised plastic bucket with a poorly working tap. The sight of the wash hand device can induce fever to a health conscious mind – and the water too was dirty, making one to ask if the bank cannot provide simple clean water!
After washing the hand, one came in contact with “hand sanitizer” that only qualified for the name because of its container as what’s inside might not contain up to 2% alcohol, if at all there’s any.
But the worst scenario’s the “hand gloves” worn by the security men. They were not only dirty but can qualify as the best breeding site for pathogens including the dreaded Covid 19 and as such whatever they touched with those gloves on became a transmission medium especially the door handles, shelves and other furniture…
While observing things, a senior staff came out and handed over an Infra Red Thermometer to the same security man at the door, warning him not to throw it down again.
But this particular thermometer was purely meant for psychological issues because the security man in question did not know how to use it and on closer observation, I discovered it’s defective, displaying low results repeatedly.
The story for the cashiers will be for another day…
At this juncture, one would dare ask: “How prepared healthwise are we as a people?”
