Rejoinder to Professor Obiaraeri on Wike meddling with exclusive list by arresting Caverton Ltd two pilots
Our name sometimes depicts our actions and character. We should bear in mind that Rivers States Governor is acting his name. He is NWA IKE indeed. He is fearless in very many fronts starting from the days when he assisted Amaechi to power.
As a governor he has refused to be frightened by the power (ike) that comes from the North.
As a lawyer and haven consulted Cicero (salus populi est suprema lex ), Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike (that is Nwa Ike) is aware that safety of River State people is the Supreme law more so in this scary COVID pandemic.
Leadership in times of crisis and emergency is a skill. Strict adherence to the letters of the law during emergency is akin to being naive or stupid.
Nyesom has shown he is NWA IKE by being alert to his environment and taking leadership by being on the front line for his people during this lockdown. Exclusive lists and rights of government at the center may as well wait so that Rivers state people may live.
In every emergency situation there is always a supervisor leading, and directing affairs. His Excellency Nyesom was seen doing that by arresting the pilots based on reasonable suspicion of knowing their COVID medical status.
This very act has no relationship with constitutional exclusive list jurisdictions enjoyed by the federal government.
Assuming the two helicopter pilots were involved in COVID-19 lockdown emergency, the pilots should get clearance and instructed by the facilitator in the Rivers State hence from ebullient Odogwu Wike.
Wike is the people’s governor. MR PROJECT as he is called, is in a hurry to do the right thing for his people.
