Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have busted three female arms smuggling syndicate and recovered 818 ammunitions carefully hidden in a small bag of rice.
The suspects, Eleanor Yowei, 25; Favour Bello, 21 and Preye Jimmy, 30 were arrested in the process of moving the ammunitions from Kano to Bayelsa.
Giving the details of the operation, the Force PRO, Frank Mba explained that Yowei handed over a bag containing rice and the ammunitions to Bello for onward transfer to Jimmy in Bayelsa.
However, luck ran out of them when the boys at a motor park in Kano searched and discovered the ammunitions in the rice.
He also explained that out of the 818 ammunitions, 718 are for General Purpose Machine Gum (GPM).
Narrating her part of the story, Yowei said her husband, who is working with the military handed her the rice for onward transfer to his mother in Bayelsa.
