The chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir Solihu, yesterday, led a virtual Eid-el- Kabir prayers in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The virtual two- rakah Eid-el- Kabir prayer which was aired live by two radio stations in Ilorin was in compliance with the state government’s directive that all sallah festivities should be cancelled.
In a brief sermon after the prayer, Solihu enjoined Muslims to be of good conduct and always assist the less privileged, even as he prayed Allah to save humanity from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Similarly, in his Sallah message, an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, implored Nigerians not to lose hope in the face of multidimensional challenges confronting the world.
He emphasised the need for Nigerians to constitute themselves into vanguards of peace, tolerance and be charitable to one another.
Mustapha, the chairman of Salihu Mustapha Foundation, admonished Nigerians to exhibit lifestyle reflective of the purpose of the Islamic festivity, which revolves around brotherhood, piety, sacrifice and resilience.
He tasked the rich among Muslims to deploy their wealth for the propagation of Islam and to ameliorate the suffering of the less privileged among them, which according to him was heightened by COVID-19-induced lock down.
He urged Nigerians to adhere strictly to the safety protocols rolled out to flatten the curve of COVID-19
