Welcome the Igbos, Yorubas into the UNPO

President of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) Fegalo Nsuke, says COVID-19 laws in Nigeria are negatively impacting the struggles of indigenous peoples for self determination and freedom.

Speaking during the on-going General Assembly of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation, an association of nations not represented in the United Nations, President of MOSOP said:

“Apart from other social impacts, COVID 19 laws in Nigeria are limiting the capacity of oppressed peoples like the Ogoni to mobilize and voice their concerns against internal oppression and discrimination”

Nsuke said while Nigeria’s discrimination, repression and political suffocation of the Ogoni people continues, COVID 19 laws have become another avenue to limit the power of expression and limited the people’s capacity to mobilize against these oppressive societies.

In a related development, the MOSOP President, Fegalo Nsuke welcomed the Yoruba nation and the Biafra Independent Movement – Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (BIM – MASSOB) into the UNPO. President Nsuke said BIM-MASSOB and YOLICOM’s admission will promote the message of peaceful agitation being a cardinal principle of the UNPO and enhance the strength of peaceful struggles in Nigeria. Nsuke further said, the admission of BIM-MASSOB and YOLICOM are expected to promote the cause of freedom, justice and fairness in Nigeria.

While noting that the Ogoni people are not Biafrans, Nsuke said the separate identities of the Ogoni and the Igos in UNPO reinforces the fact that the Ogoni and the Ibo are separate nations.
