The Minority Leader, Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Kofoworola Adewunmi Babajide has charged Osun people not to be downcast by the slow pace of development in the state, describing the myriad of challenges facing the state after 29 years of creation as surmountable.

Kofoworola, who acknowledged the sacrifice and foresight that gave birth to Osun state, however, expressed concern that the lofty dreams that founding fathers fought to achieve is being eroded by self-aggrandizement and recurring leadership failures.

“Today, our state turn 29 years, and while we should celebrate the milestone, we can not, in all honesty, say all his well, considering the enormous challenges facing the state and its people,” the lawmaker representing Ede North at the Osun assembly noted.

“Our founding fathers fought and secured the creation of Osun state because they were much convinced in the abundant resources, both natural and human, possessed by the state, as capable of serving the purpose of the people and upgrade their status.

“Looking back at the last 29 years and how dreams and expectations that heralded the creation of Osun remained largely unrealised, there will be, no doubt, leave disappointments and dejections as seen across the state today.”

Declaring that all hope is not lost, Hon. Kofoworola said though the past has leave little or nothing to celebrate, he is optimistic that Osun state would soon get its focus right and become the reference of development and great things, not only in the Southwest, but Nigeria as a whole.

“What we need to do, whether as a leader or citizen, is to recommit ourselves to the vision that birthed this state, working assiduously to bring to reality the greatness and a purposeful society that our founding fathers envisaged,” he noted.

“Every citizens should prioritize taxes and other obligations that would contribute to the good of the state, while as leaders, we should reward public trust with quality governance that will positively change their status and build a society that matched their expectations.

“I congratulate all Osun people on this 29th creation anniversary and call on them to be a good ambassador while at home and away from home. God bless Osun State.”
