FG Supports Victims Of Rainstorm In Kebbi State.

Over 600 victims of windstorm/flood disaster in Kebbi state received Federal Government relief support through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The relief materials worth millions of naira is distributed to the victims affected by the incident in Badariya, Bayan Kara and Bayan Oando communities in Birnin Kebbi.

Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu representative at the occassion by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Chairman, Alhaji Sani Dododo said a committee has been inaugurated to oversee the direct distribution to the affected victims.

The relief materials donated to the victims comprises of food, building and other household items are 114 bags of rice (12.5kg), 114 Bags each of neans and millet (25kg), 12 kegs of Vegetable oil (20 ltrs), 10 cartons of Tin Tomatoes, and 19 cartons of seasoning cubes.

Others are 228 pieces of foam mattresses, 342 pieces each of nylon mats, blankets, mosquito nets, 980 bags of cement, 980 bundles of roofing sheets, 216 packets of zinc nails,109 bags of 3 inches nails and 980 pieces of ceiling boards.

Head, NEMA Operations Office, Sokoto. Dr. Kofoworola Soleye said the timely gesture from the federal government was geared towards alleviating and cushion the plight of the affected victims.

Soleye who was represented by the head of Account Unit, Abubakar Yusuf reaffirmed NEMA’s prompt response to emergency under the Director General of the agency, AVM Mohammed A. Muhammad (Rtd) who said all hands are on deck to ensure the agency respond to disaster within a short period of time.

Reacting to the gesture on his part, The chairman Birnin Kebbi Local Government Council, Alhaji Aminu Esfada who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries commends NEMA’s timely intervention as according to him, it will ameliorate the suffering of the affected persons.
