
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday announced Emmanuel Okewulonu as the winner of its ticket for Imo North Senatorial District.
The by-election will be held on October 31.
The primary was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), NAN reports.
Chairman, PDP National Electoral Committee, Chuba Oramisi, declared the results.
He said Okewulonu polled 609 votes.
The first runner up, Patrick Ndubueze, got 27 votes.
Total accredited voters were 659, valid votes were 636 and 23 votes voided.
Oramisi thanked the delegates for their conduct and urged party supporters to vote en masse on voting day.
Before the excercise, Ndubueze alleged that a cabal was working against his aspiration.
