The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has been accused of disrespecting the Benin heritage by dragging the palace into partisan matters.

Osaro Onaiwu, who is a founding DG of PDP Governors Forum made the allegation on Wednesday while addressing the public on the latest developments towards the September 19, governorship in the state.

Mr. Onaiwu said contrary to the attempted spin by media operatives of the APC, it was indeed the party that has been belittling the ancient throne by instigating politically motivated violence at the palace.

He said never in the history of the Benin tradition council has the palace been dragged so much into partisan politics, saying the APC and its chieftain in their desperation crossed the line of decency by name-calling the Oba in their shameful acts.

Onaiwu said up till now, the perpetrators of the violence at the Oba’s palace are walking free as if they enjoy immunity from the law.

He asked the security agencies to place individuals such as Osaro Obazee, Tony Kabaka and Shaba who are APC members and have confessed to the crime on watchlist, insisting that they remain a security risk to the state.

He further disclosed that these individuals were seen at the palace during the visit of PDP chieftains where they claimed they were there at the instance of their sponsor, Capt. Hosa Okunbo.

Onaiwu insisted that the Oba and the council of chiefs must place a curse on those who instigated violence at  the Oba’s palace during the visit of PDP governors
