A non-governmental organisation, Mums Booth has organised the 10th edition of Project Start for Kids, a vocational training for kids between the ages of 6 – 15 years.
The free basic entrepreneurship training provides kids and teenagers knowledge on how to start a business in school, bead shoes, crafts, basic sewing, tropical fruits, cake making and small chops, use of social media for blogging etc.
The training which was carried out online on September 10 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, attracted over 146 children from around the country.
The training was organised in a way the trainers sent in their videos, while the kids will practice, reproduce and send in their finished works for assessment.
Speaking after the event, the convener and CEO Of Mums Booth, Mrs Martha Tawiyah, said there’s a need to start early with kids. “We want to create this mindset early. We want the children to know they can do, and they can become.”
Martha who said the idea and passion is to reach every child in communities for free through these programs, added that “We want to let them know they can achieve their dreams. They can create solutions and solve problems.”
While urging parents to help guide their kids through the activities, she assured that the trainers will also work with the parents to help them on those skills learned.
