The Delta State Independent National Electoral Commission, DSIEC, has assured Deltans that the forthcoming 2021 Local Government elections will be free, fair and credible.

The DSIEC Chairman, Chief Mike Ogbodu, Rtd, gave the assurance while declaring a day capacity workshop for journalists in the State.

He also enjoined stakeholders to go and do their homework and be rest assured of their contribution during the election.

In a remark, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Delta State Council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu said the NUJ and its members will provide, “maximum coverage,” for the elections.

He stressed that, “Unbiased reportage is what we are going to deliver.”

Earlier in an address, DSIEC Commissioner, Public Affairs and Communication, James Umukoro said the seminar was specifically meant to prepare participants who are members of the State NUJ drawn from the private and public sectors of both the print and electronic media, for the election.

“It is intended to further enlighten participants on their expected countless roles and duties geared towards the realization of unbiased reportage and non-sectional news regarding the conduct and actual outcome of the March 6, 2021 Local Government Council election.”

The one-day capacity workshop was organized by DSIEC in collaboration with NUJ Delta State Council.
