An yet-to-be-identified prisoner who escaped from the Owerri Correctional Centre alongside other thousands met his waterloo on Wednesday as angry villagers rounded him up and burned him to ashes.
The incident, ElombahNews was informed, happened in Umuawom village of Ihodimeze community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
His trouble started when he went to one of the families that testified against him and threatened to deal with them.
He was reported to have been involved in a foiled kidnap of one of the families in the village until he was arrested and remanded in custody since last year.

However, upon his escape, on Monday, he reportedly went straight to the family with fresh threats.
Reports say he even attacked one of the member of the family in the village with a gun.
It was at that point that the brave villagers to grab him and immediately set him on fire.
The Imo State Police Command is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
