Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State, has joined the leagues of mourners lamenting the death of the former Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan.

Fondly called ‘Mama Taraba’, Aisha who has been in and out of hospital, on Friday gave up the ghost in Cairo, the capital Egypt.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Friday by the governor through his Special Senior Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu, Ishiaku said he received “with deep shock the news of the death of Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan.”

Late Aisha, according to him, was a former governorship candidate in the state and frontline member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Ishaku viewed the former minister as “a woman of great courage and that her death is for him a personal loss. ”

According to him, he and the late former senator had enjoyed a robust political relationship and had kept in touch even while both of them contested for the same seat of Governor of Taraba State from different political platforms in 2015 and 2019.

He said that as minister of Women Affairs, the deceased contributed immensely towards social and political emancipation of women and that her death has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

He urged her family to take solace in the fact that Senator Alhassan lived a life of service to humanity.

He prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.
