Buhari administration not serious in the fight against insecurity — Senator Nwaka

Astute lawyer, administrator and politician, Senator Emma Nwaka, has queried the sincerity of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in fighting the scourge of insecurity in the country.
“Certain things we hear tend to lend credence to the complaint that the Buhari government is less than serious in the fight against insecurity,” Nwaka, a former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia, told News Express.
He gave an example, saying: “Take the issue of aeroplanes being used to supply food, arms and ammunition to terrorists all over Nigeria. Initially the government said there was no such thing only to later declare a no-fly zone in Zamfara to checkmate such illegal activities.
“If there was still any doubt that ‘unknown pilots’ violate our air space, the arrest of a helicopter in Niger State recently delivering supplies to terrorists lays to rest any further doubt. What all this means is that as a nation we are not in control of our air space. I must say that this is a serious failure on the part of the Nigerian Air Force. What’s so annoying about this shameful saga is that no person has been called out or punished for dereliction of duty.”
Warning of the danger ahead, Nwaka, who is believed to be nursing a 2023 gubernatorial ambition, said: “Unless this issue was addressed as a matter of urgency, we may wake up one morning to hear that the State House, Abuja has been bombed. It is enough that common thieves could find their way into our seat of power.”
