Ahead of the Anambra State 2021 governorship election coming up on November 6, a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ben Etiaba has disclosed that his government, if and when elected, will pay special attention to the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
Chief Etiaba also disclosed that he will beam his flashlight on education for all ages and genders.
Etiaba made the disclosure in a memo he personally made available to ElombahNews on Friday.
He said his administration will work at eliminating sources of revenue leakages by improving automation of revenue collection.
This, according to him, will serve to enhance the revenue generation capacity to make the state economically viable.
He said: “Anambra State needs to improve the mechanisms used for its internally generated revenue (IGR).
“Accessible database is definitely required to systematically eliminate sources of revenue leakages.
“Improved automation of revenue collection will serve to enhance the revenue generation capacity.”
On the need to improve the education system of the state, he said:
“While thinking about the internally generated revenue base in Anambra State, let’s spare a thought to the education of our youth.
“It is often said that; “If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation.”
“This African proverb has long been motivating many people globally, to strive for education for all, not just for women.
“Education will receive an extremely high priority in the ‘New Vision’ agenda for the ‘Light of the Nation’.”
Etiaba will be contesting the governorship ticket alongside some thirty seven other aspirants, twelve of which are coming from his party, the ruling APC at the center.
