Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a socio-cultural group in South East geo-political zone in Nigeria has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to rescind on his perceived threat to levy war on the South East.
They explained that they have studied the proclamation of President Muhammadu Buhari on social media responding to the insecurity challenges in Nigeria,
“We oblige President Buhari to quickly rescind the threats of repeating the episode of the civil war experience which killed 3 million Igbo people and wreaked havoc on Igbo properties, Mr. President should tender an unreserved apology to Ndigbo, for the civil war contentions against southeast to help avert possible misinterpretation of Nigerians misconstruing him”.
A press statement issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary General Ohaneze Ndigbo faction stated that,
“We are using this channel to remind President Buhari that killer herdsmen and Northern bandits based on the earlier warnings of USA Embassy Abuja that” they were heading south to destabilize the region.”
“We are solidly behind the southeast Governors in these tribulations and difficulties to restore peace and stability in the southeast, and President Buhari should regularly be scheduled to meet with Igbo governors and leaders including youths and agitators, this exhibition of love are what Nigerians expect from Buhari, not civil war magniloquence.
“Federal Government honored the Yoruba nation through MKO Abiola by the declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day to heal the psyche and wounds of the past, Southeast should be honored on June 12 Democracy Day through Presidential pardon and amnesty for all repentant Biafra agitators, no matter how challenges confront Ndigbo. We will not like to be threatened with the genocide of 30 months of Biafra War again”, they stated.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo alleged that there is a considerable collaboration between all the onslaughts witnessed in the southeast which is tracked down to a vicious conglomerate from the North, with the sole pursuit of unleashing chaos to southeastern Nigeria.
” The Igbos will surely be victorious against all the northern conspiracies.”
Specific reports reinforced our suspicions that there are craftily designed conspiracies against the Southeast by the North, how do we reconcile the vituperative rhetoric of Chief Audu Ogbeh National Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, calling the shots that “Northerners should vacate from the southeast”?, and the warning to deal with the southeast with another civil war experience by President Muhammadu Buhari?, or is it the constant menaces of Meyitti Allah to forcefully occupy our lands and forests?
“How can Minister of Justice, Mr. Malami relate to the nefarious activities of killer herdsmen to the peaceful Igbo spare parts dealers in the North?, or the repeated episodes of sabotage to cut off supplies of onions from the southeast after a recent showdown was resolved by Kogi Governor, but all of these conspiracy theories were incubated against Igbos for political and economic purposes, which is the handiwork of the cartel driving the policies of this regime.”
“We applaud the synergies between the middle belt and southern Nigeria folks and together we will survive all these insecurity challenges and come out of them stronger than ever.”
“Those behind the sabotage to cut off onions supply to the southeast are penalizing poor northern farmers and we will not instigate palm oil producers to sabotage the supply to the North, two wrongs can’t make it right, all the provocative actions against the southeast is a wake-up call for the Igbos”, Ohaneze Ndigbo added.
