Bandits have killed two mobile policemen and two others in Komponi Bobi, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.
The attacks, which occurred on Thursday night and Friday morning, also left many others injured.
It was learnt that the bandits began the attack in Makura village at about 10 pm on Thursday and visited three other communities before Friday morning.
The bandits came in 17 motorcycles which were carrying two persons each, Daily Trust gathered.
Daily Trust also gathered that the bandits, after attacking the communities and rustling cattle, went to a construction site on the new road of Kompani Bobi where they attacked the Mobile policemen and killed two of them.
It was learnt that since it was already morning, the bandits started shooting sporadically to scare motorists, killing two women and injuring several others in the process.
The two women were wives of a man who was travelling with his family to Kontagora and was caught up in the attack.
“While the man left uninjured, maybe because he was the one driving, two of his wives died from the gunshot wounds while one sustained injury and is currently being treated in a private hospital”, the source said.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for his reaction at the time of filing this report. (Text, excluding headline, courtesy Daily Trust)
