Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane, has blamed Fred for Southampton’s opening goal against the Red Devils in the Premier League on Sunday.
Keane believes Fred specifically should have done better in stopping Southampton’s first goal against Man United at St Mary’s.
Jack Stephens dispossessed Bruno Fernandes in the build-up to the goal before the ball fell to Che Adams, whose deflected shot crept past David De Gea to give the host the lead.
But Mason Greenwood’s second-half goal ensured both teams drew 1-1.
“Fred and [Harry] Maguire have to do better to close down the shot,” Keane told Sky Sports.
“As a midfielder [Fred] when someone comes into your area you have got to deal with it.
“He’s got to do more, he’s got to do better.”
Man United will now face Wolves in their next Premier League clash on August 29.
