Determined to ensure peaceful coexistence prevails in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, community members have met to identify some of the issues that cause crisis in their areas.

Member representing Jos North-North in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Baba Hassan, who organized the one-day peace parley, explained that it was meant to have a heart-to-heart discussion among the people of the community for the sustenance of peace and unity.

The peace parley had in attendance community and religious leaders, who raised issues that would offer better ways of relating with one another.

Dr Elias Nankap Lamle, a stakeholder, observed that the inability of stakeholders to identify the gangs that often perpetrate the crisis and incorporate them into the peace process is the more reason why the crisis continues to linger in the area, adding that unless they are identified, the situation would not change.

He opined, “The society looks at those gangs as irrelevant but they are very significant in the peace process. They are found in every community in Jos. They control the crisis in their domains and can be used to bring peace.”

The convener, Ibrahim Baba Hassan, condemned in strong terms the continued killings in his constituency, stressing that they are the handy work of a few bad eggs in the society.

According to him, he feels it is important to bring stakeholders together with the hope of critically assessing the situation of the area with a view of offering solutions for a peaceful environment.
