Two Policemen and a community vigilante were on Friday stabbed with daggers in Bayelsa State by suspected kidnappers.

Saturday Independent gathered that the incident happened in the Adagbabiri community in the Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were said to have assaulted the two officers and the community youth while they are trying to resist arrest after their plan to abduct somebody was foiled.

But the hoodlums were eventually overpowered and arrested by the police in collaboration with the community youths.

They had sneaked into Adagbabiri and headed straight to the house of their target, but the community’s vigilantes got information and alerted the police who stormed the place.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa Command, SP Asinim Butswat confirmed the two suspected kidnappers’ arrest in a statement on Saturday in Yenagoa.

He said the two suspects were both identified as Odulima Igbogiri and Moses Joshua, both from the Ahoada-West Local Government Area of neighbouring Rivers State.

Butswat said, “The suspects stabbed two police officers and one community youth while resisting arrest.

“The injured officers are responding to treatment at the Sagbama General Hospital.

“The suspects are undergoing interrogation, and investigation is ongoing.” (Saturday Independent)
