LaLiga: Messi finally speaks as Barcelona sack Valverde, appoint Setien
Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, has penned a farewell message to Ernesto Valverde, who was sacked as manager on Tuesday.
Valverde was fired despite winning the LaLiga title in each of the two seasons he spent with the Nou Camp side.
But it is his poor performances in the Champions League and last week’s defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup semi-final that cost him his job.
Messi has now taken to social media to share a parting message.
“Thank you for everything,” Messi posted on Instagram .
“I’m sure you’ll do great wherever you go because besides being a great professional you are a magnificent person.
“Good luck and a big hug.”
Quique Setien has since been appointed as Barca’s new manager.
