Benue: Gov. Ortom inaugurates 23 Council Chairmen
The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Monday inaugurated 23 Council Chairmen who were on 30th May, 2020 elected in the State.
The ceremony which was performed at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi became the legal requirement to legitimize their leadership at the third tier of government.
Addressing journalists after the inauguration, James Oche, Chairman of Ado Local Government Area promised to contribute his quota towards the development of his area.
Oche said: “I am elated, I am happy that my long dream to contribute my quota to the development of my people has come true. There is no better feeling than having to start at the grassroots.
“It avails one the opportunity to add value to the people and also get feedback for his actions and inactions. There is a lot that needs to be done and already, we have a lot in our consideration for the people.
“Let me use this medium to appreciate God for his benevolence for the success of the election and to my beloved people for finding me worthy to lead at this critical time. I appreciate the Governor and His Deputy and the political and opinion leaders in Benue State whose support has been firm.”
On his plans to confront the challenges peculiar to his local government, Oche said: “I am not new to the Leadership terrain of Ado Local Government having served as Caretaker Chairman. I am assuming leadership at a critical time and I know. We have a lot of security confrontations but I tell you, we have perfected plans to permanently and perpetually put that issue to rest. Security issues you know are better not discussed in the media.
Oche assured that his administration will be people-oriented.
“They now have a people-oriented government. I started this developmental agenda as Caretaker Chairman and I am now more than ever ready to consolidate on my past achievements.
“In Ado, we are moving forward, we are not starting anew. Inclusiveness, transparency, honesty, accountability and the fear of the Almighty shall guide our humble feet to achieve. Ado’s time to rise has come,” he added.
