Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has described the death of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Benue State University, Professor Godwin Achinge as devastating.

Recall that Achinge died of coronavirus complications on Sunday in Jos, Plateau State.

The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase said that Benue has lost one of its best hands in the medical profession whose expertise and selfless services also benefited many other Nigerians.

According to him, the death of Professor Achinge is not only shocking and painful but has left a vacuum difficult to fill.

He noted that the late university don was a multi-talented man who performed his duties with an uncommon demeanour and was a team player.

Ortom recalled that as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chairman State Action Committee on COVID-19, Professor Achinge was always the first to attend meetings and often made valuable contributions especially in helping the State Government to fight the menace of Coronavirus.

The Governor maintained that the late Achinge will be deeply missed by his administration and people of the state at large.

He, therefore, prayed that God grants the deceased eternal rest and give the Achinge family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
