Ahead of the July 22 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Ondo State, an aspirant Prince Godday Erewa, has said that his vision to be governor of Ondo State is make the state more visible to the global community through strategic pillars and enablers.

Erewa made this known in a statement yesterday while calling on his supporters to be steadfast in ensuring he is elected to fly the party’s flag in the Ondo State governorship election in October.

He said his pillars and enablers in taking Ondo State to higher level are Security, Agriculture, Education, Tourism, Sports Development, Rapid Industrialisation and Aviation.

The governorship aspirant said his administration will make “our state more secure by deploying security apparatus of government and engage with other critical stakeholders like vigilante groups as well as traditional and religious leaders for effective security of lives and property”.

On agriculture, Prince Erewa said he will leverage on agricultural policy on subsistence farming methods practiced by most local farmers to a more robust and mechanised farming using modern technologies.

As an educationist, ensuring that education is affordable and meet international standard will be a priority to his administration, he said.

He also stressed that tourism will be given attention. “Our rich cultural heritage and sites are part of our unique identity as a people. Therefore, a thrust of my administration is to create a network of interactions that will give our people the opportunity to navigate and harness the bountiful opportunities and potential inherent in tourism”.

Erewa further stated he will build three sports stadia in each of the three senatorial zones of the state and established a sports academy in each of the local government areas in the state and other laudable development in the sports sector.

For industrialisation and aviation, the governorship aspirant said the people of Ondo State will benefit from rapid employment generation and poverty reduction including improved standard of living and human capital development.

“Consequently, my administration would design policies and create the enabling environment for industrial activities to thrive. Accomplishing such task won’t be problematic considering the fact that I have been in the private sector most of my life and understand the dynamic and challenges associated with industrial activities,” he added.

Some of the measures to boost industrial development in the state, Erewa said are the creation of a special fund for the industrial sector through the provision of soft loans to SMSEs in the state, creation of industrial parks and clusters to fast-track industrial and commercial activities among others.

On aviation, he said the sector is strategic to the survival of the state and that he would ensure that the current state of the Akure airport is upgraded to meet international standard. When that is done, Erewa said it would help to boost the revenue of the state because of the expected high patronage.

He stressed that the pillars will drive other components of his administration while urging his supporters and other party fateful to give him the opportunity to lead the PDP into the Ondo State governorship poll.
