The representative of the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, Sam Onuigbo, has expressed sadness over the passing of Ossy Prestige.

DAILY POST reports that Ossy Prestige, who represented Aba North/South Federal Constituency and was elected under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) platform, died after battling an undisclosed illness.

Reps spokesperson, Benjamin Kalu, confirmed the death on Monday.

“He has been confirmed dead by a family member,” Kalu said.

But, mourning the late Abia federal lawmaker, Hon Sam Onuigbo in a condolence message made available to newsmen on Tuesday, said the world has lost a vibrant, people-centred and progressives man, adding that the late parliamentarian touched many lives that came across him.

He said, “the news of the death of my colleague and brother, Hon. Ossy Prestige is one of the most painful news I have received in my life. The world does not deserve to lose such a vibrant, people-centred, and progressive young man. Ossy was a master networker and a king in moving mountains. His loss has completely shattered me to my very foundations.

“Yet, we are consoled by the fact that Ossy lived a fulfilled life, and touched thousands of lives as is seen in his quite remarkable achievements as the Member representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives”.

Rep Onuigbo further added, “Without a doubt, Ossy will be sorely missed by all of us. But we must take consolation in the knowledge that he left an indelible mark on earth.

“May God console his family, friends, constituents from Aba North/South Federal Constituency of Abia State, the people of Abiriba—his ancestral home—and Nigeria at large”.

In the same vein, the House of Representatives, on Tuesday, postponed all legislative agenda to mourn Ossy Prestige who passed away on Monday at a hospital in Germany.

Announcing his death on the floor of the House, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila described the late lawmaker as a fighter that will be missed in the House.

He announced that the House will not read the letter from the President on the nominated service chiefs.

Speaking on Mr Prestige, Gbajabiamila disclosed that “Prestige had been sick for a while, since the summer of last year. He was in a hospital in the UK, I went there to see him before he was later transferred to Germany”.
